Learn to graft fruit trees to create a new tree with the best features of both.

This workshop is a step by step guide to grafting fruit trees - it's a bit of fun and a great way to learn more about plants, fruit trees and genetics.

While there are many dedicated folks working passionately on kai issues in Ōtepoti, the reality is that no single solution will propel Dunedin into a prosperous and food resilient future, ready for the challenges posed by myriad environmental, economic, and social factors. This can only be achieved through effective collaboration between diverse stakeholders. Our diversity is our strength, and we want you to be part of these events.

Growing food for yourself and others is certainly a lot easier when you have some of the right stuff to do it with… Enter Give To Grow!

Broad beans are ideal for Ōtepoti gardens. They are easy to grow, provide abundant yields, enrich the soil with nitrogen, and offer versatility in cooking due to their flavourful taste. They’re delicious! Just try doing anything other than boiling them!

It can’t all just be hard mahi…. Sometimes we have to party too!

On Saturday 28th of April., 11:00am - 2:30pm, the Community Fruit Harvest will host its annual Harvest Festival at The Valley Project in North East Valley… And there really is something to celebrate…

Cafes, restaurants and supermarkets produce 50 000 tonnes of food waste every year. An app new to Ōtepoti is trying to reduce that while giving customers some delicious deals.

In late 2023, the project set itself a goal: Pick 1.5 tonnes (1500kg) of fruit by the end of April…

Food scraps and garden clippings are a valuable resource and there is an app/website to help us collectively reduce waste and create healthy soil.

Some easy to propagate vegetables, herbs and fruits come year after year in Ōtepoti without much fuss in your garden or in pots.
